HOME SAFETY INSPECTION
The Mount Pleasant Fire Department continues to remain deeply involved within the community with regards to home fire safety. That's why we offer a courtesy home safety inspection. The courtesy inspection is designed to look for obvious fire hazards in your home, bring them to your attention for correction and offer suggestions concerning fire safety.
While you walk with us through your house, we will search for any visible fire hazards. Upon completing the inspection, we will provide you with a home inspection form which will allow you to take corrective actions if needed.
If you would like the Fire Department to come out to your home to conduct a courtesy home safety inspection, please email the department. A representative of the Mount Pleasant Fire Department will contact you in a timely manner to set up an appointment to meet with you.
Chimney Inspection
The Mount Pleasant Fire Department encourages residents to contract services of licensed professionals for chimney inspections. They should look for the following:
• Blocked flue pipes
• Blocked or obstructed chimneys
• Loose fire bricks
• Loose mortar joints
• Defective or inoperative dampers
• Missing fire screens
• Storage of combustible materials located too close to the fireplace
• Defective or loose fitting doors around the fireplace
• Any other items that catch the attention of the firefighters
