Fire Department receives $1,000 donation from Wal-Mart
MOUNT PLEASANT, SC – Fire Marshal Alton Tyler recently accepted on behalf of the Mount Pleasant Fire Department $1,000 from its local Wal-Mart. Assistant Manager Courtney Bennett, Wal-Mart Associate Manager, Mount Pleasant, presented the department with the donation and commented on her company’s involvement with the community.
“Wal-Mart is committed to its associates, family, and children and to our local community and the programs which serve to improve the quality of life in Mount Pleasant. Few people realize that through our Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club Foundation, we will return over $158 million to the communities we serve. In South Carolina alone, we have returned over $3.8 million to charitable causes this year. This is why it is our pleasure to present our hardworking Fire Department with this donation.”
“We would like to thank Wal-Mart for their community spirit and sponsorship,” said Tyler. “The donation will help purchase smoke detectors, smoke detector batteries, and help fund out our ongoing fire prevention awareness programs.”
