MOUNT PLEASANT - Registration is now open for the 8th Annual Mount Pleasant Junior Golf Open, a two-day golf tournament hosted by the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department and Patriots Point Golf Links. Youth golf players of all experience levels, ages 8 -18, are invited to participate in the tournament, which will be held at Patriots Point Golf Links on Tuesday, June 16 and Wednesday, June 17.

Tee-offs will begin each day at 7 a.m. Tournament registration is due by June 11.

The four age divisions for the tournament include boys and girls ages 8-9 years, 10-12 years, 13-14 years and 15-18 years. Ages are as of June 16, 2009. Players may request to move up one age group but may not move down.

Participants ages 8-12 will play nine holes per day with a fee of $50 for the two-day tournament. Ages 13-18 years will play 18 holes per day with a fee of $65 for both days. The tournament will be flighted after the first round if necessary. There is a double par stroke limit for ages 14 and under and no stroke limit for ages 15-18.

Appropriate golf attire – collared shirts and golf slacks or Bermuda/knee-length shorts – is required of all players during the tournament. Lunch and refreshments will be available for purchase on site.

Practice rounds will be available at Patriots Point Golf Links on Sunday, June 14 after 12 p.m. and Monday, June 15 at any time based on space availability. The tournament registration deadline is Thursday, June 11 and the event will be limited to 90 golfers. To sign up for the tournament, interested participants must complete an entry form. Entry forms are available at all MPRD facilities or can be downloaded at www.townofmountpleasant.com.
