Mount Pleasant, SC (June 1, 2009) – Scott Rodgers was recently appointed assistant recreation director to the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department, announced Recreation Director Ken Ayoub.

He will assist in the coordination and administrative management of all services and programs within our department. He will also serve as Acting Athletic Division Chief. We will draw on his experience and knowledge to continue the legacy of excellence and professionalism, which is the trademark of the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department.”

Rodgers comes to the position with more than 11 years of experience in the field of recreation. Prior to joining the Town of Mount Pleasant, he directed the City of Wren Recreation Department and coordinated the Augusta-Richmond County Parks athletic programs. He later supervised the athletic division of Aiken’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department. Most recently, he directed the Ware County Parks and Recreation Department, where he supervised 18 full-time and 75 part-time employees, and oversaw a $1.5 million budget.

“It is a pleasure to have come on board with the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department,” added Rodgers. “Mount Pleasant has long been at the forefront of recreation programming throughout the state and the region. It is an honor to be associated with such consummate professionals.”

Rodgers graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Leisure Studies. He later graduated from the University of Georgia with a Master’s Degree in Public Recreation and Leisure Studies.

Rodgers has received certifications from the National Recreation and Park Association, the American Heart Association, and the UGA Carl Winson Institute of Government.

His professional service has included membership on the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association Board of Trustees, GRPA District II Commissioner, and various state and district committees.

He resides in Mount Pleasant.
