Mount Pleasant Police Department to Hold Sixth Annual Domestic Violence Candlelight Vigil at Memorial Waterfront Park

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (November 6, 2009) -
Mount Pleasant Police Department Victim Services will hold its sixth annual domestic violence candlelight vigil on November 12, at 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Waterfront Park, 99 Harry M. Hallman, Jr. Boulevard, Mount Pleasant, SC. The public is invited to participate in this event designed to honor fallen victims of domestic violence and increase the public awareness of domestic violence in Mount Pleasant, regionally and nationally.

“The problems of domestic violence are not confined to any group or groups but cross all economic, racial, and social barriers, and are supported by social indifference,” said Mount Pleasant Police Department Victim Advocate Sue Warren.

Battering and abuse within the family creates victims with physical, emotional, and spiritual wounds.

“The candlelight vigil promises to shed further light on the subject of domestic violence and increase public sensitivity to a very important topic. Speakers and musicians will be in attendance during the vigil. We welcome all residents to attend the event,” concluded Warren.
